Rotary switch series COLONIAL

Rotary switches are a relic of earlier times. However they are back in style, in a version for the now common flush mounting. With rotary switches, turning the light on becomes a concious act of switching the light on again - with an audible "click".

The porcelain switches from our COLONIAL series are produced by the traditional Spanish manufacturer FONTINI. We are the German distributor of their products. Porcelain has always been a favoured material in electrical engineering. Porcelain has crystal clear aesthetics, a pleasant feel and very good insulating properties.

Materials and surfaces

Baseplate

The softly shaped baseplate on which the rotary knob is fitted, is made of white or black porcelain.

Rotary knobs

The differently shaped rotary knobs are made of white or black porcelain are alternatively honey-coloured or dark patinated beechwood.

Cover frames

We offer cover frames made of black or white porcelain as single-, double- and tripple frames. For the wooden version you can choose from 7 different surface finishes. We offer these as single-, double-, tripple- and fourfold frames.

Variants - switches and pushbuttons

The switches are available with 3 diverse functionalities:

• Two way switch- if you want to control one light from 1 to 2 places
• Crossing switch - if you want to control one light from a third place
• Series circuit switch - if you want to turn on two lights with one switch (one after another)

Buttons are generally used, when you want to operate from a minimum of 3 locations for example in staircases and long hallways. In contrast to the cross-connect this installation requires an impulse switch (relay), the wiring and the design of the switch is simpler. Instead of the latching relay, a staircase time switch (time relay) can be used.

Variants - sockets

For our COLONIAL series we offer two variants of sockets:

German Schuko-sockets or sockets with centre contact for the french electrical system (F). Both variants are offered in the following styles:

• socket made of black or white thermoset
• socket made of black or white porcelain

Frame covers

All switches, sockets, dimmers and outlets can be ordered as a so-called insets and you can than add the desired frame to your order. Thus you can combine and arrange switches and sockets freely.

Please note that special frames with a square cut-out are provided for thermostats.

The distances of the multiple covers meet the standard intervals of 71 mm. They can easily be used in existing installations.

Option- surface installation

If you want to use the switches from our COLONIAL series for surface installation, we are happy to provide a (rust coloured, painted or zinc plated) double junction box, suitable for the tubes from our GARBY series

VDE certification

All switches and sockets comply to the standards required in Germany. They meet the strict safety regulations of the VDE.

Delivery time

Usually we have small quantities of switches, sockets and frames in stock. Please consider a lead time of 3 weeks, if is not available.

We ship with DPD as insured package, delivery costs Germany 6,80 € (+ possibly island surcharge), EU shipping: 17 €, non EU-countries: shipping costs on request.

Mounting instructions

All insets are delivered on mounting plates and fit the commercially available, standard wall outlets.
